Fresh People are currently recruiting for an experienced Treasury Assistant to join a well-established professional services business based in Canterbury, Kent.

This is a hands-on treasury role supporting the day-to-day management of cash, banking and payment activities across the business. We are looking for someone with previous practical treasury experience who is confident managing daily cash positions, completing bank reconciliations, processing payments and supporting cash-flow forecasting.

You will work closely with the wider Finance team to ensure funds are effectively managed, payments are accurately processed and appropriate financial controls are maintained at all times.Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor bank accounts and cash balances on a daily basis
  • Maintain accurate daily cash-position information
  • Ensure sufficient cash is available to meet working-capital and operational requirements
  • Assist with weekly, monthly and annual cash-flow forecasting
  • Monitor actual cash movements against forecasts and investigate significant variances
  • Complete regular bank reconciliations and resolve discrepancies
  • Process supplier, expense, tax and other business payments
  • Prepare and process BACS and other electronic payment runs
  • Ensure payments are correctly authorised in line with internal procedures
  • Maintain accurate records of payments, transfers and treasury transactions
  • Support inter-account cash transfers where required
  • Work closely with Purchase Ledger and Sales Ledger teams regarding anticipated receipts and payments
  • Maintain bank mandates, authorised signatories and payment authorities
  • Support controls around online banking access and payment processing
  • Investigate failed, duplicated, unidentified or unusual transactions
  • Liaise with banking providers regarding accounts, payments and treasury queries
  • Maintain clear treasury records and audit trails
  • Support month-end and year-end reporting relating to cash and treasury
  • Identify and escalate potential payment, banking, fraud or cash-management risks

About You

To be considered for this role, you will need previous hands-on treasury experience and a strong understanding of day-to-day cash and banking processes.

You will ideally have:

  • Previous experience working within a Treasury function
  • Strong cash-management and daily banking experience
  • Experience monitoring bank balances and cash positions
  • Strong bank reconciliation experience
  • Experience preparing and processing electronic payments and payment runs
  • Experience using corporate or online banking platforms
  • An understanding of cash-flow forecasting and working-capital requirements
  • Experience working with payment mandates, approval processes and delegated authorities
  • A good understanding of payment controls, banking security and fraud prevention
  • Experience investigating and resolving payment or banking discrepancies
  • Strong Excel skills and confidence working with financial data
  • Experience using accounting, finance or ERP systems
  • Excellent numerical accuracy and attention to detail

Experience gained within an accountancy practice, law firm or wider professional services environment would be advantageous but is not essential.

An AAT, ACT or other relevant finance or treasury qualification would also be beneficial, although strong practical treasury experience is more important.What’s on Offer
