A market-leading fresh produce business supplying major UK retailers is seeking a Technical Compliance Manager to join its team.
This is a senior-level compliance leadership role with responsibility across a diverse global supply base. You will take ownership of food safety, ethical due diligence and environmental compliance, while managing and developing an established compliance team. The position offers real influence across supplier governance, customer engagement and continuous improvement strategy.
The Role
As Technical Compliance Manager, you will lead the compliance agenda across multiple product categories and geographies, ensuring that standards are achieved, maintained and continuously improved.
You will provide clear direction to the compliance team, strengthen supplier due diligence frameworks and ensure alignment with retailer expectations and sustainability commitments.Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the Technical Compliance team, setting clear priorities and ensuring delivery against business objectives.
- Take ownership of supplier due diligence processes, ensuring accurate data is collated, reviewed and maintained across internal and customer systems.
- Oversee supplier approval and onboarding processes, ensuring compliance accuracy and timeliness.
- Complete and review supplier risk assessments, ensuring effective compliance monitoring throughout supply periods.
- Oversee chemical surveillance testing schedules for supplier arrivals across the supply base.
- Direct supplier recall and traceability exercises to validate compliance systems.
- Maintain and manage approved supplier lists in line with internal governance and customer requirements.
- Develop and implement compliance procedures and internal guidance to drive consistency and best practice.
- Provide clear reporting on compliance performance and sustainability KPIs to senior stakeholders, highlighting risk areas and solutions.
- Collaborate with Technical, Procurement and Commercial teams to embed compliance and sustainability objectives into wider operations.
- Lead preparation for customer audits and quarterly HACCP reviews.
About You
- Degree educated, ideally in Food Science, Environmental Management, Environmental Science or a related scientific discipline.
- Experience within fresh produce or a comparable food supply environment (preferred).
- Proven team management experience with a strong track record of leadership and delivery.
- Confident using Excel, Power BI and PowerPoint for reporting and analysis.
- Highly organised with strong project management capability.
- Detail-oriented with excellent analytical skills.
- Comfortable working autonomously while collaborating across multi-disciplinary teams.
- Deadline-driven with a strong sense of accountability.
