Job Description – Senior Chartered Secretary

Fresh People are partnering with a well-established, independent advisory and accountancy firm in Canterbury, recognised for delivering high-quality professional services to a diverse and growing client base.

Due to continued expansion, they are seeking an experienced Senior Chartered Secretary to join their team. This is a senior-level appointment offering the opportunity to work closely with Partners and clients, providing expert guidance on corporate governance, compliance, and company secretarial matters.

This role is ideal for an individual looking to take a lead position in governance and advisory, with exposure to a wide range of UK and international clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as a trusted adviser on corporate governance and company secretarial matters
  • Manage a portfolio of clients, ensuring full compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements
  • Oversee and review:
    • Board and shareholder documentation
    • Statutory registers and filings
    • Companies House submissions
  • Support clients with:
    • Corporate structuring and reorganisations
    • Governance frameworks and best practice
    • Entity management and compliance
  • Attend and support board meetings where required, including minute-taking and advising on governance matters
  • Lead and develop junior members of the company secretarial team
  • Work collaboratively with tax, audit, and advisory teams on cross-functional projects

Requirements

  • Qualified Chartered Secretary – ACG / FCG (ICSA / CGIUKI)
  • Proven experience within:
    • Accountancy practice, professional services firm, or corporate environment
  • Strong technical knowledge of:
    • UK company law
    • Corporate governance frameworks
    • Companies House requirements
  • Experience managing client relationships at a senior level
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Commercial awareness and advisory mindset
