Fresh People are recruiting for a well-established fresh produce business based in Maidstone, Kent, operating within a fast-paced FMCG environment.

Due to continued growth and increasing compliance requirements, a Pesticide Compliance Manager is required to join the Technical team on a full-time, permanent basis. This is a key role within the compliance function, offering responsibility for pesticide monitoring, supplier compliance and alignment with UK/EU legislation and customer policies.

The Role

As Pesticide Compliance Manager, you will be responsible for leading and managing all pesticide compliance processes across the business, ensuring product safety, legality and adherence to customer-specific pesticide requirements.

You will work closely with Technical Managers, suppliers and customers to ensure compliance standards are maintained, monitored and continuously improved.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the business pesticide compliance monitoring process, reporting weekly on spray records, residue testing and PPPL performance
• Manage and control the Plant Protection Product List (PPPL) process across supplier and customer platforms
• Monitor and manage PPP derogations in line with customer-controlled PPPL requirements
• Ensure supplier-owned PPPLs are compliant with customer pesticide policies and renewed in line with supply periods
• Manage banned, restricted, monitored and special attention active substance derogations, ensuring supporting documentation is reviewed prior to submission
• Support pesticide risk assessments and manage residue sampling and testing programmes
• Review and sign off residue certificates in line with UK/EU MRL legislation and customer requirements
• Investigate MRL exceedances and non-compliant detections, ensuring corrective action plans are implemented and recorded
• Maintain accurate pesticide due diligence documentation across internal systems and customer portals
• Monitor compliance KPIs, escalating any risks that may impact supply
• Cascade changes in pesticide legislation and customer policies to relevant stakeholders
• Represent the business at industry meetings where required

About You

• Previous experience within a pesticide compliance, technical compliance or fresh produce technical role
• Strong knowledge of UK/EU pesticide legislation and customer pesticide policies
• Experience managing PPPL processes and pesticide derogations
• Understanding of MRLs, residue testing and spray record verification
• Experience working with supplier due diligence systems and customer portals
• Strong analytical skills with excellent attention to detail
• Confident communicator with the ability to challenge and influence suppliers
• Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple priorities
• Own transport required due to location
