An established and fast-growing food and fresh produce business is seeking an experienced Account Manager to lead and develop key customer relationships within a dynamic commercial environment.
This role is responsible for managing strategic customer accounts, driving sales and margin performance, and ensuring service levels consistently exceed expectations. You will work closely with internal teams and play a key role in customer growth, product development, and commercial performance.
The Role
Reporting into the Commercial Director / Head of Sales, the Account Manager will have ownership of key customer accounts and accountability for both commercial and service delivery performance.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading the day-to-day management of key customer accounts
- Owning customer service delivery and ensuring expectations are clearly communicated and met across the business
- Managing and driving customer KPIs, identifying opportunities for continuous improvement
- Overseeing account profitability, sales performance, and gross margin delivery
- Maintaining sales budgets through effective demand forecasting and planning
- Supporting new product launches and range change planning and implementation
- Maintaining accurate customer data, pricing structures, and forecasts
- Presenting market share, performance insights, and category trends to customers
- Ensuring accuracy of invoicing and data through internal commercial systems
People Management
- Supporting and coaching an Account Executive in their day-to-day role
- Driving individual customer growth and development plans
- Creating and managing PDPs to support performance and progression
- Reviewing objectives to ensure consistently high customer service standards
About You
You will be commercially astute, customer-focused, and confident managing complex accounts in a fast-paced environment.
Key skills and experience:
- Proven experience in an Account Manager or Senior Account Executive role
- Strong commercial acumen with experience managing sales budgets and margins
- Confident working with forecasts, KPIs, pricing, and commercial data
- Strong presentation and stakeholder management skills
- Experience working with ERP or commercial systems
- Background in food, fresh produce, FMCG, or retail supply chains is highly desirable
- A proactive, collaborative approach with strong attention to detail
