Fresh People is recruiting a Head of Packaging for a fast-moving fresh produce business with operations across four sites in Kent.
This is a hands-on leadership role with responsibility for packaging procurement, supplier relationships, warehousing, stock control and the availability of packaging materials across the operation. You will lead a team of approximately 40 people and take ownership of the packaging budget, direct packaging and transit materials.
The role
- Lead the procurement, packaging, warehouse and stock control teams across four sites.
- Ensure packaging materials are available in line with production plans.
- Manage supplier performance, commercial agreements and tenders.
- Own packaging spend, stock accuracy, reporting and reconciliation.
- Strengthen ERP processes, stock controls and packaging KPIs.
- Maintain packaging records and ensure compliance with BRC, company and health and safety requirements.
- Develop your team and work closely with site and supply chain colleagues to improve performance.
About you
You will bring substantial experience in packaging, procurement or supply chain leadership within fresh produce, food manufacturing, FMCG or a similarly fast-paced environment. You will be commercially aware, confident managing suppliers and budgets, and comfortable working across multiple sites. Strong stock control and ERP experience, together with a practical approach to leading and developing teams, will be essential.
A full driving licence is required for travel between sites.
Salary: up to £70,000, depending on experience.
