Financial Assistant
Canterbury| Full-time | Office Based
Fresh People are recruiting for an experienced Financial Assistant to join a well-established and growing professional services business based in Canterbury preferably qualified.
Working as part of a busy Treasury and Finance function, this is a varied hands-on role supporting the Partners and wider team across day-to-day financial transactions, reconciliations, management accounts and payment processes.
The Candidate
We are looking for someone with practical finance/accounts experience who is confident working in a busy, deadline-driven environment.
You should ideally have:
- AAT /ACA qualification or equivalent practical accounting experience.
- A minimum of 12 months’ experience within a finance or accounts-based role.
- Previous experience using accounting software, ideally QuickBooks and/or Xero.
- Experience of bank reconciliations and transactional finance.
- Good understanding of accounts payable and receivable.
- Strong numerical accuracy and attention to detail.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- The ability to manage competing priorities and work to deadlines.
- A professional, discreet and confidential approach.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- A self-motivated and organised working style.
Experience within an accountancy practice, professional services business or treasury environment would be advantageous.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Completing regular bank reconciliations and associated transactions.
- Posting financial transactions using QuickBooks and Xero.
- Supporting month-end management accounts, including journals.
- Managing day-to-day financial transactions.
- Preparing invoices and processing accounts payable and receivable.
- Preparing and completing payment runs.
- Submitting BACS transactions.
- Supporting Treasury Partners with cost control and budget monitoring.
- Assisting with the organisation and workload of the Treasury team.
- Maintaining accurate financial records, files and supporting documentation.
- Providing general accounts administration.
- Supporting the Partners and wider finance function with ad hoc financial tasks as required.
Hours: Monday to Friday, 9.00am – 5.30pm
Working pattern: Full-time, office based
