Job Role – Chartered Secretary
Fresh People are currently recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced Chartered Secretary to join their expanding Corporate Governance team based in Canterbury.
As Chartered Secretary, you will manage a varied client portfolio, ensuring statutory compliance while providing expert advice on corporate governance, company law and company secretarial matters.
Working closely with Partners, Directors and fellow professionals, you will become a trusted adviser to clients across a wide range of industries.Key Responsibilities
- Manage a portfolio of company secretarial and corporate governance clients.
- Advise Boards, Directors and Shareholders on governance and statutory compliance.
- Prepare Board agendas, Board packs, minutes, resolutions and shareholder documentation.
- Ensure compliance with the Companies Act 2006 and Companies House filing requirements.
- Maintain statutory registers and company records.
- Support company incorporations, restructures, share reorganisations and corporate transactions.
- Liaise with Companies House, HMRC, solicitors and other professional advisers.
- Monitor changes in legislation and advise clients accordingly.
- Deliver exceptional client service while maintaining the highest professional standards.
About You
We’re looking for an experienced governance professional who combines excellent technical knowledge with outstanding client relationship skills. You will be commercially aware, highly organised and confident advising clients on governance matters.Essential Requirements
- Qualified Chartered Governance Professional (CGIUKI/ICSA) – Associate (ACG) or Fellow (FCG), or an equivalent recognised qualification.
- Significant Company Secretarial or Corporate Governance experience.
- Strong knowledge of the Companies Act 2006.
- Experience preparing Board and Shareholder documentation.
- Experience managing statutory company records and Companies House filings.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong organisational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
Desirable
- Experience within an accountancy practice, legal practice or professional services environment.
- Knowledge of corporate restructures and acquisitions.
- Experience supporting owner-managed businesses.
- Familiarity with governance software such as Diligent Entities, Inform Direct or Blueprint OneWorld.
