Fresh People are currently recruiting for an Estimator to join a well-established construction and fit-out projects team based in Orpington.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Estimator to take ownership of the tendering and pricing process, working across a range of projects and playing a key role in delivering commercially successful outcomes.


Role Overview

As Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates, analysing project requirements, and developing competitive pricing strategies across construction and fit-out projects.

You will work closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure all tenders are commercially sound, clearly structured, and aligned with project delivery.


Key Responsibilities

Estimating & Tendering

  • Review drawings, specifications, and client requirements to produce detailed cost estimates
  • Prepare and submit tender documentation with full cost breakdowns
  • Identify risks, opportunities, and constraints within project scope

Cost Planning & Analysis

  • Source and negotiate pricing with suppliers and subcontractors
  • Develop cost plans and budgets during pre-construction phases
  • Monitor market trends, material costs, and labour rates

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Liaise with project managers, engineers, and clients to clarify requirements
  • Attend site visits and pre-tender meetings
  • Work closely with procurement teams to align pricing with supplier agreements

Risk & Compliance

  • Identify and mitigate commercial and operational risks
  • Ensure all estimates comply with regulatory and health & safety standards

Reporting & Handover

  • Maintain accurate records of estimates, quotations, and project costs
  • Support project handover with clear cost visibility
  • Provide reporting on estimating activity and cost performance

Skills & Experience

Essential

  • Proven experience as an Estimator within construction or fit-out
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and market trends
  • Proficient in estimating tools and Excel
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills
  • Ability to manage deadlines and multiple projects

Desirable

  • Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or similar
  • Professional membership (RICS, CIOB)
  • Experience with BIM or digital estimating tools
