The Role – Commercial Operations Manager
Fresh People are currently recruiting for a Commercial Operations Manager to join a fast-paced and growing Fresh Produce business operating within a short shelf-life supply chain environment based in West Sussex.
This is a pivotal role responsible for driving end-to-end supply chain performance, ensuring product availability, optimising stock, and delivering high service levels to customers.
You will work cross-functionally with Commercial, Finance, Production, and Logistics teams, taking ownership of planning, stock control, and operational execution.Key Responsibilities
- Lead the demand planning and forecasting process in line with customer requirements and commercial activity
- Manage daily and weekly customer orders, ensuring accurate processing and communication
- Oversee stock management across multiple sites, balancing availability, waste, and working capital
- Monitor inbound deliveries, production output, and stock levels by SKU/customer
- Investigate and resolve stock discrepancies and supply issues
- Coordinate end-to-end logistics, including transport booking, delivery tracking, and issue resolution
- Manage relationships with 3PL providers, transport partners, and suppliers
- Ensure delivery performance against OTIF and service KPIs
- Drive cost efficiencies across transport, storage, and handling
- Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing Commercial Operations team
- Ensure compliance with customer requirements (labelling, ASN, palletisation, delivery windows)
About You
- Experience within FMCG, fresh produce, food, or short shelf-life supply chains
- Proven background in supply chain, planning, logistics, or operations
- Strong experience in forecasting, stock control, and logistics coordination
- Confident working across multiple stakeholders and departments
- Previous team leadership or supervisory experience
- Highly organised, analytical, and solutions-focused
- Strong Excel and systems capability
