Fresh People are recruiting for a well-established fresh produce business based in Sittingbourne, Kent, operating within a dynamic and fast-paced FMCG production environment.

Due to continued growth and operational demand, a Maintenance Engineer is required to join the engineering team on a full-time, permanent basis. This is a hands-on role responsible for maintaining production machinery, supporting operational efficiency and ensuring equipment reliability across the site.

The Role

As Maintenance Engineer, you will be responsible for carrying out both preventative and reactive maintenance across production and packaging equipment to ensure the site operates efficiently and downtime is minimised.

You will work closely with production and operational teams to diagnose faults, maintain machinery and support the smooth running of the production facility.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) across production and packaging machinery
• Respond quickly to equipment breakdowns and perform fault finding and repairs
• Maintain production equipment to minimise downtime and maximise operational efficiency
• Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults and implement corrective actions
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and engineering documentation
• Work closely with production teams to ensure machinery operates safely and efficiently
• Follow safe working procedures and ensure compliance with site health and safety standards
• Support continuous improvement initiatives to improve equipment performance and reliability
• Assist with maintenance planning and equipment inspections
• Communicate effectively with operational teams regarding machinery performance and repairs

About You

• Previous experience working as a Maintenance Engineer or Multi-Skilled Engineer within a production environment
• Experience within fresh produce, food manufacturing, FMCG or packaging environments
• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving capability across mechanical or electrical systems
• Experience carrying out preventative and reactive maintenance on production machinery
• Good understanding of health and safety procedures within an engineering environment
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced production setting
• Strong communication skills and ability to work closely with operational teams
• Highly organised with strong attention to detail
