Transport Supervisor
Fresh People are currently looking to recruit a Transport Supervisor for a Wholesale Food Distribution business based in Dartford in Kent . In this role you will be joining a team of 3 other supervisors and as a collective will take the lead within the Transport team ensuring the safe and efficient day to day running of the 80 strong fleet and over 100 drivers.
The Person
Suitable applicants must be able to work every other weekends on a 10-7pm shift , have previous experience working as a transport supervisor within an RDC or Food Distribution business preferably with experience of managing a similar fleet and team .
Reporting into the Transport Manager you will ensure the smooth running of the operation, modelling best practice and supporting and developing drivers, whilst leading an organised and cohesive team. Must have a full driving licence
Key requirements
- Ensuring all drivers have the correct and relevant paperwork.
- Demonstrating best practice adherence to procedure.
- Provide guidance and support to all drivers.
- Deal with general queries from both customers and drivers on the road.
- Manage drivers and ensure deliveries are made with excellent customer service, abiding traffic laws etc.
- Liaising between drivers and the office, re-directing routes and mitigating disruption.
- Conducting interviews and supporting recruitment needs.
- Overseeing performance and probation reviews.
- Monitor and complete absence procedures in line with company policies.
- Supporting the drivers, completing deliveries when operationally needed.
