Are you an experienced quality professional in fresh produce looking to step into a leadership role? We’re seeking a Quality Control Manager to take ownership of the QC function within a fast-paced fresh produce business. This is an exciting opportunity to lead a dedicated team, ensure compliance with customer and retailer requirements, and drive continuous improvement across quality systems and processes.

This is a full-time position, working Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Lead and manage the QC team, including recruitment, training, performance reviews, and staff motivation.
  • Oversee supplier and grower approvals, maintaining accurate records and compliance.
  • Ensure all documentation, order sheets, and specifications are accurate and up to date.
  • Manage product intake inspections, rejections, and concessionary stock processes.
  • Oversee shelf-life testing, positive release procedures, and stock reviews.
  • Monitor compliance with weights, measures, and food safety requirements.
  • Ensure robust systems are in place for traceability, contamination monitoring, audits, and equipment use.
  • Contribute to operational meetings, providing insight and ensuring effective communication across teams.
  • Manage departmental budgets, verify invoices, and support cost control.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives within QC systems and processes.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Previous experience in a senior QC or technical role within fresh produce.
  • HACCP trained with strong knowledge of food safety, compliance, and retailer requirements.
  • Skilled in managing and motivating teams, with excellent leadership and people development skills.
  • Organised and detail-driven, with strong administrative and IT skills (Word, Excel, and bespoke QC systems).
  • A confident communicator, able to work effectively across all levels of the business.
  • Resilient, adaptable, and proactive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Desirable: formal management training and experience overseeing multiple fresh produce categories.
