Are you passionate about quality and precision in fresh produce? We are looking for a dedicated Product Manager to join a dynamic Technical team in a fast-paced fresh produce environment based in Maidstone area of Kent.
The Role
Reporting to the Head of Quality Control, you will be responsible for evaluating the quality of fruit in stock and matching it accurately to customer orders based on their specifications and internal quality standards. This pivotal role bridges communication between Inloading QC, Procurement, Production, Commercial, and Technical teams to ensure that every piece of fruit meets expectations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Daily assessment of incoming and stored fruit quality
- Allocation of stock to orders considering variety, origin, pack size, and condition
- Verification against approved grower/variety lists and customer specs
- Provide clear sorting instructions for non-compliant product
- Regular liaison with internal teams to reduce waste and improve cost-efficiency
- Contribute to daily stock meetings and business unit updates
- Support the development of efficient allocation systems
- Facilitate customer visits as needed
- Ensure compliance with Health & Safety, Hygiene and BRC standards
About You:
- Proven experience in the fresh produce sector
- Excellent knowledge of fruit quality and specifications
- Confident decision-maker who understands the commercial impact of quality decisions
- Strong communicator with the ability to influence and collaborate across departments
- Solid planning and IT skills (Excel/Word)
- Able to work under pressure with great attention to detail
